Honours

The Honours degree is obtained through a fourth year of study. Full-time students complete their Honours degree in 12 months.

During the Honours year, the candidates study four courses at the Honours level. These courses allow the students to study areas in banking and finance in more depth. In addition, each candidate must write and submit an Honours thesis. The thesis is a report on an original research project, written under the direction of a supervisor. Through the successful completion of a thesis, the student acquires an in depth knowledge of a particular area of banking and finance as well as experience with general research methods.

The thesis signals the ability to think through problems and to communicate results. It may be the most valuable component of an application to professional positions and post-graduate programs.
